How to add a new language to @language.pdl

In my example I am creating project functions to keep the changes to the OS-computers as small as possible. From PCS7 V8.0 SP1 the way the @language.pdl is working has changed a little bit. Due to this change there is a small change on each OS-computer needed. It is the the registry key "WinCCSupportedLanguages.reg" The one in the attachment is for russian language and it is for a 64bit Windows. If the russian language is your need and you are not using "Russian Localization for PCS7" you can directly use the files (project functions, @language.pdl and reg-key) in my attachment. A detailed tutorial how to do those changes is included in the attachment. If it you use it, please rate this threat... Regards, mark

mark1507 Platinum Expert Joined: 6/23/2008 Last visit: 1/23/2025 Posts: 1168 Rating: (283)	If you want a solution where no modifications to the PCs is needed, take the function USER_SSMShowLanguage from this attachment instead the one from previous post. All other scripts and the modified @language.pdl still have to be taken from previous post. In this function you can decide for each language if it is shown in the @language.pdl or not. No need of modification in the registry is needed. The language which should be shown must also exist in the Text Library. It is like a AND-function. If you have a language in the textlibrary wich you don't want to show in the @language.pdl you can decide in the function not to show it instead of deleting it from the Text Library(maybe you need that language later again). Depending on your answer I have different information for you. After recieving your answer I will send the data as PM to you. Regarding the problem to wich your link is refering to: No, the problem was not related to this modifications. There was a bug in WinCC wich was solved with the use of an update (I think it was Upd.7) to WinCC 7.2. Best regards...

One more problem I have during WinCc runtime, when I use Russian language, the tooltip messages are not shown correctly, only ?? question marks displayed. see on attached picure It suppose to show the block comment there, what is translated to Russian in text library, when i put non cyrillic text, then it displays correctly. I dont want to install the localization package... Any idea to solve it? Attachment tooltip.jpg (738 Downloads)

Or even better, what exactly is your WinCC version (including Upd.)? Did you edit the cyrilic text directly in the editor "Textlibrary" or did you use export/import and the texts where edited in an external editor (maybe Excel)? Or did you edit the cyrillic text already on SIMATIC-Manager-side and the cyrilic texts where transfered to the textlibrary by OS-compilation? Best regards...

sger84 Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Hi Mark, I have PCS7 V8.0 SP2, WinCC V7.2 Upd7. To implement Russian I did like this: New language was added in "Text Library", then export "txt" files with Text distributor for translation. The text files were edited in MS Excel to copy translation. then import back with "Text Distributor". All cyrillic text are visible in RT only tooltip text are not shown correct.. Regards

You will find this setting in "Region and language" on the last tab "Administrative". If it is not already set to russian, please set it to russian and try again. Was the project created on the version 8.0 SP2 or was it created on a earlier version (even 8.0 SP1) and updated to 8.0 SP2? Is the cyrillic text shown correctly after import in the editor "Textlibrary"? On ES- and on OS-PC (after download)? The text saved in pictures and the text from textlibrary are working different, so I don't wonder that texts in picture are shown correctly... What about messages? Are messages shown correctly (cyrillic) when runtime is set to russian? What about texts in any faceplate, especially the block comment wich is usually shown somewhere in the upper area of the faceplate (or in the title)? Best regards...
