I have OPC Server with OPC Scout, OPC Scout V10, Simatic Net Configuration Console and Symbol File Configurator. I want to add new OPC tags and the way I saw it It nets to be added in Symbol File COnfigurator through Simatic Net COnfiguration Console. But I want to confirm that is it correct that I need to shutdown OPC Server through Configuration Console under OPC Quit Server Tab by clicking close and through symbol tab i will go to the edit file use (symbol file configurator windows open) and add the new OPC tags their. And after adding the tags il just have to start OPC again on the Quit Server "Tab" in the configuration console. Is there procedure correct? What else should I verify in order for the OPC to work perfectly fine with the new tags as I will start it again.

your described procedure is correct. The OPC Server must shut down, because the symbol files are only read from server during start up.

But why you want add symbols manually?
Addresses like S7[...]DB10,B0.... doesn't need to be added to symbol files. You can add this OPC Items directly by your OPC client. If your connection partner is an S7 PLC it makes more sense to use symbolic names on PLC and to export it for OPC Clients.
