how to avoid entire download after compile entire program

winarko Posts: 44 Rating: (0)	Dear expert, Because unknown issue, I am forced to compile with "Entire" option..Now, I want to download "changes only" to the PLC..Is it possible to do that, because the plant is now running and I don't want to disturb the process or reset the DB to initial value. Seriously it is a big problem for me.. I heard an expert from German doing a registry modification to allow download changes only to PLC, is there anyone know how to do that? Thx in advance..

Silent Bob Posts: 836 Rating: (100)	If you have compiled the program completely it sometims has to be downloaded completely (becasuse the instance DB are changed, ...). If you don't have a H-System, you now have a problem. Do you have an actual backup of your project? You can retrieve this, make the changes again, pay attention not to change anything that needs a complete compilation afterwards, and downlaod this to your PLC. I never heared about the possibility you mentioned andI wouldnt recommend it to do stuff like that in a running plant.

However if the button for delta download is not available this means the changes you made are so disrupting that a complete download in necessary (e.g. interface changes to blocks, resized DB's etc). I would not advise you to search for a way to trick the system in letting you do a delta download in such cases as that will only result in your PLC going to stop. You could trace back the reason why your program has to be fully compiled and remove this change if possible so that you will be able to do a delta download again and subsequently make changes to your project. If you really have to change the size of a shared DB or make interface changes to an FB, you should consider doing this in several steps resulting in your software using the new DB or FB with a new number. If that is not an option you will have to wait for a moment whereyou can safely doing a complete download without disturbing production. If this is a long time from now you should try toremove the ofending changesas I suggested before so you can at least make changes without having to go trough a stop. Good luck, David

Actually the first reason is I can not make a download to PLC, both buttons (Changes and Entire are gray),because I use different file from the last file that I download to PLC. My first backup is retrieved into two Multiproject file. The first file is used for commisioning everyday, I can make delta compile and download from here, this file is the last updated. (file A) The second file is used for developing program at my office and this file is the most updated project file (file B) Yesterday I want to download my most updated program (file B) to OS and AS. The OS downloading running smooth ,but I saw the both buttons are gray when I tried to download AS.And then I made modification to last updated file A (without archiving first) to follow file B, but when I compiled it with delta option it gave an error and should be entirely compiled to remove error. Now I have to gamble whether I can make delta download or not after entire compilation.. Any suggestion?

Silent Bob Posts: 836 Rating: (100)	I know it is not helping in this situation, but... To avoid those troubles in the future I would recommend to archive before download, or at least every day. What were your changes to the program? you could try to download (e.g. ew blocks) directly to the online block folder of the PLC. But if interfaces changed, or instance DB numbers had changed i wouldn't recommend it... Is you last working backup so old?

Silent Bob Posts: 836 Rating: (100)	They are not changed every time, but it could happen. for instance when you compress your program. If your backup file is up to dateI would use it. When the program in the PLC hasn't changed since it, or not much, i think its possible to delta load. So go back to your updated file, try to load it, if it works make your changes, pay attention not to make things like interface change or compress program and finally delta load it.
