I am newer to Siemens hardware. I am needing help with backing up current program on processor to the flash memory slot. We had a power outage and found out that 2 of our machines processors batteries were dead. When power restored these 2 machines, having lost their program, loaded the program from the flash card. This was extremely old and outdated and took a ton of time figuring out what has changed over a 7 to 8 year period. All this being said I would like to back up all of our 318's to their flash memory. Can this be done and save all our DB / VAT values? Thanks. |

Hello Wolfepak; The S7-318 is actually a Sa7-400 CPU designed in a S7-300 format. So the following information for a S7-400 is adequate. Look at the 2 following FAQs: How can you back up the actual values of DBs and markers? https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/fr/en/view/18778977 How can you write the program to the FLASH Memory Card when using a SIMATIC S7-400 CPU? https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/fr/en/view/23670531 I suggest you save the actual values of your DBs back to the offline folder of Step 7 before you write the program to the FLASH card, that way when you read back the program from the memory card (after a power dwn) thaose values will be set to start your production once more. Note that writing the program to the FLASH card reqires the CPU to be stopped, so you must plan the windows when it is available for such an operation. Eventually, if those actual values change rather often you might want to do the procedure on a regular basis, so the startup values are as close to real situations as possible... Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
