how to configure hardware and function blocks to transfer datas to ABB(DCS)?

Hello, It is important to know what role the ABB can play on Profibus DP. 1) if ABB can only play DP Master. The DP master module cannot be configured as slave. In this case you have no solution because the IM151-8 as only Ethernet interfaces. You could consider if the IM151-7 can fit instead of IM151-8 The IM151-7 can be DP slave. 2)if ABB can be equipped with a DP slave interface. You need the GSD from ABB (they should provide it to you), and youimportit in your HW catalog. Than you add it as a slave of your DP Master module. Data excange is done via periphery bytes. Forconsistant data transfer (larger pieces of peripheral adresses considered as one piece of data)you could use SFC14 and SFC15. (http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/245111) |

Hello KaRthickatr in case your ABB either only comes with a DP master interface or you must use one in it for other reasons, you can still link your IM151-8 DP Master to it via a so called "DP/DP coupler". The sole purpose of DP/DP coupler is to link two DP Master together and to allow Profibus DP I/O based data exchange between the two. You'll find everytingelse worhtwhile knowing about itin the DP/DP Coupler manual and I hope this helps. |

Hello KaRthickatr yes you can, either via a DP/DP coupler (if the ABB DCS is also a DP Master) OR by integrating the ABB DCSas a DP Slave (if the ABB DCS can be a DP Slave). You HMI Panel can in both cases also be on the DP Profibus of the IM151-8's DP Master Network. I hope this helps |

Dear fritz, My problem is if i'm using IM151-7 CPU(DP salve) with ABB DCS(DP master) whether i need a DP/DP coupler in this case or not...

Hello KaRthickatr I need to learn to read more carefully as I somehow missed that you are now talking about using an IM151-7 instead of the IM151-8. Anyhow, if you use an IM151-7 as a DP Slave of the ABB DCS, then you do NOT need a DP/DP coupler (to be precise,a DP/DPcoupler would not work in this case sinceits sole purpose is tolink two DP Masters togetheras also mentioned in my previous post). And purely for completeness,you can still have your KTP600 on the same Profibus DP Network too. I hopethis helps. |
