how to connect cpu 314c high speed counter to a line driver encoder

is_razi Experienced Member Joined: 3/13/2009 Last visit: 9/7/2024 Posts: 132 Rating: (1)	Hi everybody, I am trying to do some positioning tasks by a cpu314c ,a delta asda-a2 servo drive and easymotion software.The problem is that the encoder output signals of the servo drive are line driver signals(A,/A,B,/B,Z,/Z and as you know the highspeed counter inputs of the cpu 314c just accept 24v binary signals(A,B,Z).Can somebody help me about this issue by guiding me how can i connect these together? thanks very much.

As you know each FM351 supports just a single encoder so for my project with 4 servos it will be a somewhat expensive solution with 4 FM351's. Isn't there any other module that can convert the line driver signals to 24V signals. regards.

IBN-Service Posts: 8946 Rating: (999)	UMENCHO SM338 6ES7338-4BC01-0AB0 Bas Idea. We are talking about incremental encoder, not about SSI - encoder. @razi: Do you have a profibus? (314C-DP)? What about to connect the encoder direct to the drive? Usually, the servodrives support different kind if encoder. Also, the 6ES7138-4DE02-0AB0 is a little bit cheaper...

is_razi Experienced Member Joined: 3/13/2009 Last visit: 9/7/2024 Posts: 132 Rating: (1)	yes the cpu has a DP port ,and the encoder is already connected directly to the driver and actually i am discussing about the encoder output of the drive itself.but unfortunately the driver hasn't got any profibus port on it.However there are a modbus and a CAN bus port on the driver .Do you think if i can use any of these ports by some SM modules of siemens. thanks

RhinoCZ Posts: 11 Rating: (0)	Hope you solve it allready... Line driver should be 24V or 5V outputs. In first case you simply connect one of his complementary signals to the selected channel 314C counter imputs. In second case you need an TTL/HTL converter, simply something like fast relay :) All times I use Weidmueller MOS 5VTTL/24VDC 0,1A, ord. nr. 8937920000, which is 100 kHz TTL/HTL converter with 5V input and 24V output. Bad thing is that it needs 5VDC power supply too, but it works fine. You need one piece for each signal you want to convert...
