Hello Manuel; MPI is based on RS-485, so up to 31 nodes can be connected at the same time. on the same bus If you want to connect more than one node to your PLC on the MPI port, I suggest you use Profibus-DP connectors and cables. Follow this link for a looki at different models of Profibus connectors; Profibus cables can be found in the navigation pane at the left: https://eb.automation.siemens.com/goos/catalog/Pages/ProductData.aspx?nodeID=9300041&language=WW®ionUrl=/&activeTab=en#topAnch Chapter 4 of the following manual discusses how to use the Profibus cables and connectors for multinode designs, such as you are preparing. Look especially at 4.2 to see step-by-step preparation of the Profibus cables for insertion into the connectors. SIMATIC NET PROFIBUS Networks Hope this helps Daniel Chartier |

First question: what are you planning to use to connect the PG to the other units on MPI? A PC Adapter, a Profibus interface card (such as a CP 5611) in the PC? If you have a connection to the PLC already functionnal, you onl;y need the -0BB12- piggy-back plug to connect the pG to the network. I'm planning to use PC Adapter (6ES7972-0CB20-OXA0) Second:question: you do not mention the model of OP you are connecting to the network. Sometimes these units do not allow the space for a 90 degree Profibus connector due to their particular layout. The recommended type of connector is described in the technical specs of the unit (or in the operating manual), so please check them out before purchasing the connector. It would be frustrating to recieve them and find out afterwards that you need another model (this is one reason there are so many different models of Profibus connectorsn offered). D.C. OP is (6AV2 124-0GC01-0AX0) One more time thankyou for your help. With yors comments am able to decide whatkind ofconnector to choose from the list. Manuel |

Hello Manuel; For your application then you would only need one -0BA12- and one -0BB12- connector, with the Profibus cable between the two, connecting the PLC and the TP7000 Comfort panel.. The terminating resistors should be active on both. Make sure you put the connector with the piggy-back connection on the PLC's MPI port; you can then connect the USB-PC Adapter from the PC directly on the piggy-back, to complete your circuit. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
