Hi! I think I read all the posts on this topic. However, I still don't know what the best solution is to connect sensors with serial outputs (SPI or I2C protocols) to S7-1200. I'm planning on using these distance sensors (https://www.st.com/en/imaging-and-photonics-solutions/vl53l1x.html) and an S7-1200 CPU 1215C PLC on a project. I thought about using a microcontroller to read the serial signal and output another serial signal (using RS485 Modbus RTU protocol)and then connect it to an RS485 communication module. My other solution would be converting the serial data to analog signals and then use an analog I/O module, but I understand some of the flaws of this idea. Is there a better way to establish this connection? Where can I find more information? Thank you in advance! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

As a gateway, you can use Simatic IOT2000. Example - https://support.industry.siemens.com/tf//ww/en/posts/simatic-iot2000-with-i2c-expansion-board/155647/?page=0&pageSize=10 |
