If anyone can help a bit further I'm not able to add a newline to the Wstring. I believe new line is hex 0D

I've tried a few combinations that wouldnt go into the Deafult value box, such as 0D $0D  , but if I try '$0D' it immediately changes to WSTRING#'$R' so I think I'm onto a winner.

When I run the HMI simulation my textbox says "Test_bool_1""Test_bool_2"  great to see it has the two tagnames as expected, but unfortunately no new line between them. In the PLC the monitored value of the Wstring is WSTRING#'"Test_bool_1"$R"Test_bool_2"$R' 

so the $R is in there but HMI not displaying it.

Any ideas?

The line break ($N) occupies 2 characters in the character string and is converted to $R$L in the display in the editor.

Thanks for the help, no dice unfortunately, it did autocorrect to $R$L as you said but tags are still butted together on the hmi, but monitoring the plc we do indeed get WSTRING#'"Test_bool_1"$R$L"Test_bool_2"$R$L'

I read somewhere that the IO_Field needs to be output mode and this is the case

Has anyone successfully displayed linebreaks/carriage returns in at runtime in WinCC for a WString? 

Using a TP1500 comfort in simulation, I will try on the hardware later today to check if it behaves the same. Could it be that it is just not implemented?

alternatively you can format the button just to view the text.

 There must be a very consistent reason for not having this functionality, but I don't know specifically.
