Hello yechu; Creating the redundancy between 2 WinCC servers is relatively easy. Start by finishing your application on a single machine (this PC will become your main WinCC server). You need the following license:
Second, you need an Ethernet network to connect the 2 servers. You do not need a dedicated networrk for this: The communication between the redundant servers, for lifebeat monitoring and archivesynchronization purposes, is carried out via the terminal bus. As network, a PC LAN usingthe TCP/IP or NetBEUI protocols is utilized. This was extracted from the WinCC redundancy manual, short version (30 pages); http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/1144400 I don't know whether this is the same manualyou were refering to, but it explains step by step how to use the WinCC utilities "Project duplicator" to copy the WinCC application from the main PC to the standby, and how the utility "Project switcher" can be used to force theswitchover between the 2 servers.By the way, the manual is rather old (refers to Win NT4.0, it looks like it was written for a WinCC v. 5.0). But the information is still basically valid for more recent versions. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
