I am using the same version as you (TIA WinCC Pro V13 SP1 Update 9 and have encountered the same problem. I cannot give an event to my buttons directly inside Faceplate editor and have to manually feed tags after calling faceplate on my screen ( Very time consuming) I have done some research and found that it is possible to give Events to buttons directly in Faceplate Editor in other versions such as WinCC Advanced. The only option in WinCC Pro is using a VB script which I have not been able to solve. 

If you have found a solution could you please share it :)

 You cannot use global (!) VBS and C functions inside of the faceplates. You can still use normal, local VBScripts and attach them to Faceplate objects, but you can only use internal faceplate variables. So if you want to get some values from PLC tags/HMI tags, you have to do it via faceplate 'Parameters' and when you drag a faceplate to your screen - connect correct PLC/HMI tags there.

Why are you saying that connecting a tag to your faceplate (after dragging it to your screen) is very time consuming? Is it because you have a lot of tags to connect? If this is the problem, then you can think about creating a PLC Data Type - it is a structure that contains all needed words, ints, strings etc. for a specific solution and you can use such Data Types inside of the faceplates. Then, outside of the faceplate you simply connect the name of the structure tag and that's it.

But maybe you have some other problem. If so, please explain it more thoroughly.

 Does anybody know if there is a way to detect a change in value of an HMI tag that is fed into a faceplate? I want to change a BOOL value on an HMI screen and then have the faceplate recognize it and run a local (to faceplate) VB script to change a visibility parameter within the faceplate.

I talked to a representative from Siemens support and it is not possible to detect a change in an input parameter to a faceplate to trigger a subroutine within the faceplate.

but there is an event "Value Change" of a Faceplate Property you can use to do what ever inside a Faceplate.

So id you change the Value you can do  something inside the Faceplate for example using a Script.

 This is true if you physically change the value of the process tag inside the faceplate. However, the "Value Change" event does not recognize the input process tag changing.

The faceplate recognizes that the input variable changes but the "Value Change" event does not trigger a sub routine if the value attached to the faceplate input tag is changed externally.

That is how I expected that event to work as well. However, after trying it, I found that if I used a button event to change a bool variable (Unit_System) and I have that variable passed into a faceplate, the event, ValueChange, does not recognize it and does not run a faceplate sub routine.

I tried this with only with an HMI variable an internal (to the HMI) variable. I assume you were talking about not using an internal variable (to the faceplate) so I created an HMI variable connected to a PLC value. By golly the faceplate recognizes the change in a PLC value, so the event, ValueChange, triggered the internal sub routine. This did not work for an internal HMI variable.

Wow. Thank you for that little tip. I will keep that in my mind when creating faceplates from now on.
