Hello, to diagnose PROFIBUS Networks there is a whole range of Hard- and Software available. Let me show you just a view samples. - Amprolyzer. If you want to diagnose the Traffic on the network this free tool is your choice. It allows you to monitor the Bus traffic on a CP 5611. Amprolyzer V3.2 Bus Monitor - Diagnostic Software for PROFIBUS - BT200. If you want to diagnose the wiring of your network this is your choice. - Diagnosis Repeater for PROFIBUS. If you want to monitor the faults on your PROFIBUS Segment this is the right choice. As there are many other diagnostic tools around on the market this is a little choice of the products SIEMENS supports. Best regards J_Bell |

Hello swilly; Step 7 HWConfig editor (online) will give you diagnostics on failed connections or failed nodes (master or slave). If you add FB125 to your program, you will have grater diagnostic capabilities, and with integrated templates yopu can send this information to your Siemens HMI. What you are looking forseems to be more in the line ofbus analysis tools. We use a BT200 bustester module from Siemens; it will inform us (on a 2-line LCD display) of wirebreak on the bus, termination problems, short-circuit or crossed wires. No a bad tool for the price, portable and compact. See here: http://www.hiport.co.uk/Images/SiemensBT200etc.pdf Siemens also offers a Diagnostic Repeater that will scan and report on any bus problems on the segment it is connected to. More expensive and generally designed for permanent installation. It is discussed in the same pdf file as the BT200. Procentec offers various test equipment for Profibus networks, including the Profitrace. We were given a presentation on this tool a few weeks ago, very impressive (the price is proportionnal). It integrates an oscilloscope to some PC diagnostic and reporting software, you can capture tracings of all signals on the bus, determine grounding, termination, signal reflexions, segment length issues, most any problem you can have on the network. See here for more details: http://www.hiport.co.uk/Images/Procentec%20Toolkit%20Ultra%20Introduction-%20Apr08.doc Specifically for PA networks, we use SiemensPDMas more than a parametrization tool, it allowsus to see all nodes present on the bus(it does a lifelist, including for DP and PA slaves it detects over the DP/PA link). E+H Fielcare can also do the same, but only if you have downloaded all relevant DTMs to your software. Once that is done, it can be used for diagnostics of your PA network. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

Hi, for basic diagnostic I would check diagnostic buffer of PLC. Perhaps there are any entries with errors you can check the slaves. Perhaps it´s only one slave with errors. You also can use FB 126 for diagnostic in Step 7 V5.5 Diagnostic package PNIODiag for diagnostic evaluation for PROFIBUS DP and PROFINET IO (STEP 7 V5.x)But If you want more detailled informations I would do like murof... |
