How to get data from Anybus Profibus slave / DeviceNet Master gateway?

T41 Posts: 88 Rating: (1)	Hi all, Use an Anybus Profibus slave / DeviceNet Master gateway to link data between Profibus and DeviceNet. The data has been arranged in DeviceNet Gateway.For example 17 bytes In and 10 bytes Out. I added 3 input modules and 3 output modules in SIMATIC HWCfg. under profibus slave node. slot 0 : input 1 byte / output 1 byte slot 1: input 8 bytes slot 2: output 1 byts slot 3: input 8 bytes / output 8 bytes How can I use SFC14 to read all the 17 bytes and SFC 15 to write all the 10 bytes? I wantto use SFC14 to read the data to a DB or several DBs. I need to use SFC14 only once (to a DB) or 3 times (to 3 DBs)? Anybody has the experience? Thanks! T41

T41 Use SCF14 only for reading in one DB. After that, you can move the data to different DB if you like. Examples you will find in S7 online - help.

T41 Posts: 88 Rating: (1)	Thanks! When I inserted several input (output) module in Anybus (profibus slave), the system automatically provide the address for the iuput card. But the address for these input cards are not continuous. There are gaps between the addresses. For example, address 100 for an input 16words. the continuous address for next input card should be 115. But the system may assign 200 to it. If I use only one SFC14 to map to one DB, I wonder there may be problem. In CFC, when I use SFC14, I can assign the "LADD_ADDRESS" as input and DB no. as output. But I can't assign the lengh of the data transfered. It seeme to assume to read all data from gateway input buffer to a single DB. Do I need to manually assign the address for the inserted input cards and make the address continuously? The situation should be the same as reading data from a profibus DP slave. Thanks! T41

T41 Posts: 88 Rating: (1)	From the manual of SFC14, if there is 3 different DP ID, there should be 3 SFC14 to read the data. But SFC14 can't read 1 byte, 1 word, 1 double word. I used 3 kind of input cards, that is 1 byte input card, 1 word input card, 2 words input card. How can I transfer these data to a DB directly?(can't use SFC14 here). Use sth. like "mov"? What kind of data format I should use, IBxxx, IWxxx, IDxxx, or something like PIBxxx, PIWxxx, PIDxxx, to read from Process Image directly? Thanks! Any suggestion is appreciated! I need to know ASAP. J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear T41, I wonder why do you want to use the SFC if you use only 1 Byte, 1 Word or 1 DWord? You may directly load and transfer, if you want to transfer the inputs to a DB. The same way you may work with the outputs. Using the SFC is only required if you want to transfer 3 or more than 4 Bytes(or 2 Words) of data in an consistent manor. Is this the case with you? Best regards J_Bell

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear T41, well, the difference is as follows: A data unit is a Byte, a Word or a DWord. Structures may consist of one or multiple data units. If you have a Variable which is an Array or an Structure this may consist of many Bytes, Words or DWords, lets say 3 or more than 4 (Bytes). In such a case (if your variable has 3 or more than 4 Bytes)you need the SFCs you mentioned, if you only have one data unit of a Byte, a Word or a DWord you do not need the SFCs. Best regards J_Bell
