How to get the status of a message?

I would like to know a WinCC function that can tell me the status of an alarm. In this case, I would inform the alarm number and receive as answer information bits telling me if the alarm is acknowledge or not, if it's incoming or outgoing, and so on. I've search for this subject and I haven't found anything! Thanks Zerbati

As the name of the function already tells, it's a Global Message Function. In fact, it works more like a Procedure than like a function, as I don't have a really answer from this. On my application, I have these features: - I have to create some objects that blink when the message related to each object is not acknowledge. When I click the object, the message is acknowledge (this is peace of cake); - I have to create a button that blinks when any of the other objects are blinking. To do it, I've used message groups (ok! Thanks WinCC!); - The bad news: when I acknowledge the specific message related to some object, this objecthas tostop blinking, even if youare not with the display opened(!?!?!?!?!?). This is the problem with GMsgFunction: it runs every time there is a trigger inside the alarm list related to a point that starts an action. But I need some function I can run on display, so when I openitthefunction, inside the "Blinking" property ofeach object,will check all the messages related to all the objects inside the display. I could do it using GMsgFunction and creating one binary point to each message. But I will need about 600 objects (and 600 binary points)! So, I'm looking a easier way to do it, as it will be a kind of "standard" project (as if these kind of things really work in this way). I was wondering if there is a function that can give the status of one specific message! Thank you, Zerbati

You can acknowledge messages either from an graphic object OR from the Alarm Control. When ack'ing from the Alarm Control you need the object to stop blinking. Why not just assign a Status tag for each message? You can create a 32bit unsigned internal tag which will let you monitor the status of 16 different messages (remember the status tag uses two bits, one for ack state and one for alarm state). As internal tags do not count towards your tag licence there should be no issue. You could then use the status tag to control the blinking of the objects [:)] Please remember that the less scripts you use, the more performant your system will be. Again, please correct me if I have not understood your problem. Salma

The way they are normally used in WinCC/PCS7: - picture1: overview with a "master" group display - picture2: pdl with e.g. pumps (each with group display) - picture3: pdl with e.g. valves (each with group display) => if in picture 2 or picture3 an alarm/warning is generated the group displays in these pictures will blink => the PictureTree manager is "collecting" the values of the group displays in picture2 and picture3 and handing over an value tothe overview group display. perhaps this mechanism would be helpfull for your problem as well??? http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/493670 http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/17778440 in principle for the master group display a tag of its own is created, which represents the variables of groupdisplay in picture2/3 (by an OR-operation) nemo

The problem with the group idea is that I should create one group for each alarm and, after all, one internal point for each alarm. If I have a big number of alarms, it would take lots of time. About the idea to create, for instance, 16 bits points and group 16 alarms on it, I think it's better. In this case, I should create an action and start it from the GMsgFunction, correct?
