How to install Example Image to eMMc

bergmanu Platinum Expert Joined: 4/28/2015 Last visit: 12/1/2023 Posts: 3294 Rating: (368)	Hi, as an owner of the IOT2050 you might have recognized that there is no image pre-installed on the eMMC, as I promised here. The reason is that this Industrial OS version has a delay for release. So we decided to ship the hardware without. You will receive the SIMATIC Industrial OS as soon as it released. In the meantime you can use the Example Image and run it from a SD card or from the eMMc. Since the installation to the eMMc is not that easy I have created a document with a description. I have burned the Image on the SD Card and inserted in the slot. The system rebooted. Now, I copied the same image to an external USB and inserted it into the USB port of the IOT2050. I checked using the command fdisk -l and the following was displayed about the sda. Device Boot Start End Sectors Size Id Type /dev/sda1 4294967295 8589934589 4294967295 2T ff BBT /dev/sda2 4294967295 8589934589 4294967295 2T ff BBT /dev/sda3 4294967295 8589934589 4294967295 2T ff BBT /dev/sda4 4294967295 6854241533 2559274239 1.2T ff BBT 1. /mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/USB says special device /dev/sda1 does not exist. The same was displayed for /mount /dev/sda2 /mnt/USB, /mount /dev/sda3 /mnt/USB and /mount /dev/sda4 /mnt/USB Where did I get it wrong? Kind regards,

ducna Advanced Member Joined: 7/31/2017 Last visit: 7/6/2023 Posts: 30 Rating: (0)	Hi friend, The mentioned documentation applies only to IoT2050 Advance (... 1YA2) and eMMC memory cards. Your use with the SD card I think is a problem. And I am also looking for IoT2050 manuals, it's really new.

Is there a recommendation on the type of partition and format type to make sure it is setup correctly before flashing the image? I used Linux Ext4 and made the partition bootable from the Disk Tool in LXDE desktop environment but would be happy to redo the partition from terminal if you provide the correct procedure of what the eMMc should be before you flash the image. * I found by deleting the eMMc partition completely leaving it as free space (using gnome-disk-utility in LXDE Desktop) then following your instructions I was able to flash the image from SD Card to eMMC Internal Memory. I'm up and running again and now can use SD Card as a storage drive. *
