The trouble is, ColinMai, that’s a big topic. But perhaps a key point is that it isn’t really an engineer’s skill, more of a graphic design skill. You might like to sign-up for the HMI Design Masterclass, where this type of thing does get discussed. But one of the key tips in that, maybe the best tip you are likely to get here, is that it doesn’t have to be your problem alone, or the lone problem of whoever will actually do the work in WinCC. It should be a more open discussion with your colleagues who understand the equipment that this WinCC project will be used to control, and even, ideally, including some of the operators who will actually use it, especially experienced operators used to using similar equipment. Certainly, by the time you open-up your WinCC project, you should have a fairly strong idea about layout. Starting with a blank page and just dropping items onto it before deciding how to lay them out does not usually end with a good result.
