How to load the pcu20.abb file on a sinumeric840d

I have a ctx310 cnc with siemens sinumeric840d pcu20 I want to load the pcu20.abb file on the machine but i dont know in which way, 1.can i use the usb port on front of the operating panel,and with a simple compact flash card load the file? or 2.do i need a second pcmcia card except from the one that is inside the ncu, or i can do it with that? 3.if the loading is to be done with the pcmcia card , do i need an pcmcia to usb converter so i can put it in front of the operating panel at the usb port,or do i put it at the ncu in the pcmcia port. sorry for the trouble but im lost,doing this for first time Regards

George71 Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	Hello, The problem was that when i booted the machine the Siemens Sinumeric 840d logo popped out and stayed there, if you pressed something from the keyboard then appeared : ''HMI embedded version 06.02.42'' ''waiting for PLC connection'' , After approximately 35-50 minutes of waiting at Siemens Sinumeric 840D logo, i was able to see the menu,with non resetable alarms, At the Diagnosis Screen the alarms where : 2001 : 00.00.00 00:00:00 PLC has not started up 120.008 : 00.01.99 00:50:06 Operator units switchover, PLC Timeout 1010 101000 : 00.00.00 00:00:00:00 No connection to PLC! After all this a technician came and tried to perform a general reset, but without the pcu20.abb file,(cause we didn't had it) he loaded the NC file, and when he tried to load the PLC file, it stopped at 50% and showed if i remember correctly ''error log'' . Then he checked the connections After the checking of the connections, when the machine was booted instead of : 'HMI embedded version 06.02.42'' ''waiting for PLC connection'' , it appeared : ''HMI embedded version 06.02.42 ''waiting for NCK connection'' The sequence of the leds and seven segment replay above S3 S4, was exactly the same with PLC connection problem and with the NCK connection problem. Seven segment dispay when booting the machine goes rotationally to 1-5 stays about 10 secs at a '' c.'' (with a dot next to the c) and then stays at 6 The leds when seven segment is at 6 are at nc : +5v led is green at plc : PS led is flashing aprox. 3 secs and : PF led is lit up red all the time Also is there a guide on how i can load the backups into the machine through simatec step 7? Also is there a guide on how i can load the backups into the machine through simatec step 7? it is not possible to load the *.ARC files via Step7 to load the PCU 20.ABB file you need a pcmcia card that plugs into PCU20. Loading is done via the service menu of PCU20 but that is not your problem. The PLC is not loaded and not started that's your problem

Ekalavya Posts: 2964 Rating: (482)	Hello, What is the indication in the IR module or UE module in your machine ? Does Green and Orange glows? Try clearing the NC and PLC properly if understand from your mail...PLC is not clearly loaded... Does your NC and PLC backups are loaded properly......and MPI cable is connected X101 in the NCU card.... Status of the LED looks like PLC as gone to stop mode... Yes you can Simatic Step7 with MPI cable see in diagnostic why the alarn is coming.... Check it out... Regards, Prakash

Is there a techinical diagram and specifications of the x101 cable that goes to the mpi(pcu20) and to keyboard so i can check if the cable's pins are working properly ? Regards George Hello, Please clear your NC_PLC first and then load the backups....Ensure the machjne backups are there. If i look at the drive it is not ready....63,64,48 or drive ready signal from X111 connector is missing.... Also when i boot the machine,pcu20 pops a ''cmos battery fail'' Where can i find this battery on pcu20 so i can replace it? Also sending an attachment of the files in the ncu card. (I only have nc.arc and plc.arc files) Regards George Hello, Sinucom FFS is the software for writing the system software...you need to make a general reset via the switch S3 and S4 which is there in the NCU. If CMOS battery has failed you need to replace you can find this on PCU20... Regards, Prakash
