Hi.

In TIA Portal i created a Data Log, and in the tags i need to log there is also a string, but it looks like it is not supported.

The problem is, i need to log two alphanumeric values that may vary from 1 to 20 characters, that the user input in the correspondant field in the comfort touch panel before starting the process.

How can i do it? 

I tryied the array, but it accept only 1 cell at time, so in the log it would appear like several different fields stacked...

Plus, i need to start this data log only when a process in the PLC is finished and then stop it again, but this is a secondary problem i'm looking into.

Its not possible to log Strings in a direct way.

You can use a workaround like in the following FAQ:

Its a WinCC flexible FAQ but its quite the same in TIA portal.

Ok.

So if i need to log each time (let's say every time a process starts) these datas for example.

Name (string or array value), Temperature (analog), Status of Valve (Bool).

And i want them to be cyclically recorded in the same CSV file in this correct order, there is no way with the integrated tools in TIA portal, am i correct?

Do i have to create a script to do this?
