How to make trigger tag for alarms in HMI?

In HMI data type of discrete alarms is Ushort or Ulong but there is no Ushort or Ulong in PLC! I use Word type in PLC and it's work, but compiler of HMI print warning (not error) message: ".. invalid trigger tag". So i thing there is other way to do this. I have KTP400 panel. Regards

Denilson Pegaia Platinum Expert Joined: 9/23/2005 Last visit: 5/26/2023 Posts: 4184 Rating: (1342)	Hi, e.g you need to "group" the boolean tags in a Word, in PLC. Else, each boolean tag should be declareted as word in HMI. To group, there is many ways: you can use absolute addressing. So, M0.0, M0.1 ..etc. are boolean variables but could be read as MW0 in the HMI. Other alternative is use boolean variables and "group" it with a user logic (like the FC that I attached before).

My problem is different data types in PLC (WORD) and HMI (UShort). In HMI trigger tag of discrete alarms should by ULong or UShort type (this is from help in topic Configuring discrete alarms in the "Tags" editor :"Configure an internal or external tag with the data type ULong or UShort as required."). But there is notULong or UShort in PLC. I use WinCC basic in TIA. In WinCC 2008 trigger tag type is WORD.

Hi, That is a difference of names for the same thing PLC UInt = HMI UShort PLC DInt = HMI DShort in the S7-1200 the block "CONVERT" converts Word in UInt or Dword to UDint Attachment example.zip (1035 Downloads)

Willi1Lx Posts: 3 Rating: (1)	Hi, I wondered if you can help, I created a data block within my project to convert boolean to UINT in HMI alarms. I then created alarms in HMI and also created HMI tags, but when I triggered an alarm in the PLC (S71200) using the switch, I cannot get the alarm status to change on the HMI Panel(KTP400), what am I doing wrong. I followed the process AND MANUAL, and nothing is changing when I flick the switch from ON to OFF. Can you please help.

Maybe the bytes are (not) swapped? Tell you what - make sure you have 16 alarms.. one for each bit of the UINT. I recommend using a WORD instead, but that is just because you are using a bit field and not a number.When you have 16 alarm messages linked, trigger the alarm again and see what happens. Do have a look again at the links I have given you.. take it step-by-step. Start by not having anything on the acknowledgement. Next create 16 entries... don't worry about making the messages fit anything just yet. Each of the 16 entries must have a unique bit trigger number - currently you have them all on 0.. these bit trigger numbers should be from 0 to 15. The trigger address will then be "HMI Alarms"."Alarm Status".x0 until "HMI Alarms"."Alarm Status".x15. See at first if these words alone are of help. @anyone - maybe someone has some time to show some pictures...... please. w
