how to monitor profibus communication problems in programm

jacekpro Posts: 33 Rating: (4)	Hey! I would like to know, if is it possible to monitor in step 7 in program that i.e. slave 30 has lost communication with master. My master is s7-315 2PN/DP. I would like to assign to i.e. M100.0 TRUE if comunication with slave is ok, or FALSE if communication is lost. Is it possible? How can I do it? Regards, Jacekpro

gumis Posts: 45 Rating: (0)	Hi I do not know what kind of slaves you are using. In my application I had one master and one slave. Each request to the slave gave me answer to the master. This answer contains some amount of bits. Maybe one of them contain some information about presence or lack of communication. If you store the data received by the master in data blocks, you can simply connect specified bit of data block with M100.0. In my application I had CPU315-2DP and Simoreg6RA70. The idea above would be successfulfor my application. I hope this will help. Regards, gumis

mumbles Posts: 160 Rating: (16)	Have you considered using SFC51 with SSL-ID W#16#292. Have a look in the help for details of this block. Please consider that OB86 is only called when a station has failed and returned. So for example if you lose a station while your PLC is running and then you choose to stop your PLC. If the station becomes healthy again and you then restart you PLC you will not register this station as healthy as OB86 will not be called again. Just an idea, I suppose it all depends on the code you have implemented.

Bhaskaran Posts: 107 Rating: (13)	Hallo jackepro, I was in the past using OB86 with evaluation of the error codes and slave number. I was using OB 86 with same code at 10 installations but I had terrible issues at one installation and I started looking out for other solutions and came across FC125 / FB125. But I tell you honestly if you use once FC 125 / FB125 , you will start loving it. The best part is you use it OB1 and you can view the status in cyclical program wheras your OB86 program gets updated only when there is an error. If you need support then please let me know, I can forward you the sample code.
