How to password protect scripts??

Ikkezelf Posts: 1084 Rating: (72)	For the global C-scripts: Open a script. Go to "edit" then "Info" Here you can mark the checkbox for password. For the global VB-scripts: Open a script. ritght mouse click on the script and select "Info" Here you can mark the checkbox for password. with regards, Ikkzelf

I want the user to only view the scripts, without modifying them.. Maybe make a print copy of the script and give to the customer. Now serious you can use reports to print the scripts etc I think. Ganesan Also, what if I lose my password??From which databasecan I retrieve it? This is not documented as far as I know. The password is embedded intofct/pas file not db. One time I was curious on this and I got lost into splay encryption algorithm. As far as I remember from my old dbg days it's much easy to remove the pw then to retrieve it. Good luck.

Ganesan Posts: 48 Rating: (1)	Yeah!! True, I looked into SQL tables, but cud find the password lists only for User administrator logins in encrypted form.. , not for scripts.. jst out of curiosity,whr frm can I delete/change the pwds?? Thnks, Ganesan

Ganesan Posts: 48 Rating: (1)	In that case, the "read only" properties can very well be unchecked again. The rights lie with Windows OS rarther than WinCC. The properties can alsobe very well changed when the project is transfered to a different PC with full admin rights. I was wondering whether there is any fool-proof way of protecting my code, withpassword recovery feature. Thanks, Ganesan

Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	Hi, The "read only" do lie within Windows. And I don't know any way of recovering the passwords either... An ugly workaround is protecting the script on your customer's backup, and keeping an unprotected copy for yourself. But this would mean you'd have extra work whenever you edit the script.
