How to provide 4-20mA from SM332 to SM331

Dear members,

I have an AO output module 6ES7-332-5HF00-0AB0 which is giving out 4-20mA. However I need to
pass this signal to a 3rd partyPLC AI card 6ES7-331-7KF02-0AB0 which is configured as 2-wire or 4-wire system.

Is it possible to connectthe AO card 4-20mA output to a 4-20mA AI card directly?

I have two cases:
1] 4-20mA from my AO to an AI card that is configured as 2-wire.
2] 4-20mA from my AO to an AI card that is configured as 4-wire.

Appreciate someone could give me some idea.

For case2, it’s no problem.

For case 1, directly it’s not possible to connect your 4-20 ma AO to a AI card of a 2 wire system. May be you can put a signal isolator whose input section is 4 wire and output section is 2 wire.

A 4-wire configuration is required for the analog input card 331-7KF02, because a 2-wire configuration supplies 24V to power the attached sensor.

If the analog output is only connected to the analog input, the wiring is simple. You connect QIx+ to Mx+, then Mx- to QIx- (Mana of the analog output channel).

However, if you must also control an actuator with this current and the analog input card is used as a monitor, you must take care in the wiring. The analog input card specifies a maximum of 2.5Vdc common modevoltage. I would recommend you connect from the analog output to the actuator, from the actuator to the analog input, and then back to the analog output to complete the current loop. This way, the common mode voltage is minimized. Otherwise, the load impedance of the actuator must be less and 100 ohms toguaranteethe common mode voltage will always beless than 2.5V for the analog input channel.

Yes you are right. Both electronics –ve should be equal.
