How to put my tags?

THUAIA Posts: 17 Rating: (0)	Hello, I try to build a lad diagram who simulate an elevator but when I download to my PLC the error led(from my PLC) become red, so now I'm trying to put piece by piece and see what is wrong. I attach some photo with a simple diagram. In the diagram I want every time that "tag 0" is pushed FloorStatusReq to take value of 1. The problem is to the move block, that can't transfer the value to respectives tags. My question is I mus put FloorStatusReq FloorStatusCopy as global memory? THUAIA Posts: 17 Rating: (0)	Hi, I found that the error it isn't from tags. It's from increment block who "increment" the index. If the index it's not modified the program works fine. From online mode the error looks like: Temporary CPU error: Area length error in FB 1 affecting OB 1 execution write access Volatile DB area Incorrect address, operand ignored \|> Processing will continue (no OB processing) \|> HW_ID= 52 Internal address details: Caddr=16#0000006E, area: DB 1 Attachment pi1.jpg (232 Downloads)

William_B Posts: 5225 Rating: (1198)	Hi. Please make VERY sure that the value that you use for the array index is ALWAYS inside the legal range. I would suggest strongly that you put in a value test to make sure these are legal. Your program can take positive action when the value is not legal. [smile] I feel strongly about this case, as this has caused me many sleepless nights in a project. Greetings. w

0_Einstein Diamond Expert Joined: 7/7/2010 Last visit: 1/21/2025 Posts: 15549 Rating: (2467)	I completely agree with William B about using an IN_RANGE or OUT_RANGE check for tags used as array index. Sometimes they get odd values unexpectedly and can be ignored, trapped, and counted. If a specific bad action happens in your process a few times every day, you can check your trapped counts for bad index values and compare to the number of bad process actions. They may very well be related. Like a bouncy switch that suddenly counts way faster than should be possible, or some noise enters some signal that puts it out of normal range for a short time. And by all means, never divide without verifying zero is not involved :)

Thus you will run into this network more than once. But I guess you only want to increment once. You should use rising edge of tag_1 for increment operations, otherwise you will not have an increase by one. And you easily increment beyond limits then. regards
