How to raplace WF-725 in S5??

Joan M. Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Hello, In our company we get some WF-725 boards that should be repaired. We wanted to checkit raplacing a working one in a rack. We have been taking care to configure the dip switches in the same way. We found that new PCB doesn't work in the rack. Taking a look at the WF-725 manuals I discovered that the boards are working under Standard I. We are trying to find a quick guide to raplace the WF boards in a reliable way. Could someone help us? It's been a lot of time since i did work with similar technologies the last time; i have to say i'm not a expert in this field, i just want to share my experience with you. First to all the modules i was working on where WF-723A, so we have a diference. So if the dip switches are now configured in the same way than the old card; you just have to try to download the whole program to the PLC but have in mind that the WF card must be alredy inserted. This operation should be made with the PLC in Stop mode. I'm sorry that's the only trick i know; but also i recomend to check this manuals WF Manuals Good luck .

Joan M. Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	More information: We found that FB221 and FB222 are called from a SPA instruction inside other FB's. But these ones are never called form the program. Is it possible that all we need is to execute FB221 and FB222? Thanks! J.M.

TEBANCH Silver Member Joined: 3/25/2008 Last visit: 1/28/2022 Posts: 232 Rating: (20)	Well, i have to admit i do not remember if those FB's you mention are standart blocks to "comunicate" with WF-725; but i suggest you to think about this: The machine was working with the old cards and the original program; so you only take a "new" WF card and you just has set the dip switches for the new card. This means that you only has replaced the hardware in you machine, then you do not need to make software changes if the machine was runing with the old cards. Why to download the program? Because when you download the progran you will refresh the contents of the DB's and DX's in the PLC; in this blocks is contained the information related to the parameters of the WF cards (Traversing blocks, Coordinates and so on), your "New" WF card has a memory module, when you download the program to PLC and pass it from Stop to Run, the PLC updates the data configuratio in the memory module of your WF card. So far it is all i remeber about it; i'm sorry to do not be able to provide you with more details. Good luck and Best regards.
