How to run wincc client in lan with wincc rt start (tia portal v12)

sweetol Posts: 18 Rating: (0)	Hi all, i have done a project with a wincc rt professional (server) and one wincc client. I start the simulation and the server is started on the current Windows PC. Then i try to start the project from another Windows PC with Wincc RT Start: the project i located in the shared LAN folder, in the Windows PC where i started the simulation. Instead this folder is protected and i can't open it. In the project i don't set any user, maybe is this the problem?

I think most portal users find we need to wrap some processes around shared LAN folder projects to use with the portal software. Using the portal on a LAN share is very likely to result in corruption of the project, or even possible it will be like your problem. The problem seems to be resolved by copying project to local folder, opening project, working on project, saving project locally, closing project, then copying project to LAN.

sweetol Posts: 18 Rating: (0)	i will try soon and let you known. thankss there is one point that leave me a bit confused: i can't compile the client on the Windows PC where i have the project in local. neither if the server is already lanched (in the same PC where i want to compile the client). So how can it compile in the other PC? maybe the computer name is recognized and makes the difference? or maybe i have to compile the client after the server is compiled AND from another PC with the specified computer name? anyway, i will try. stay tuned

Does everything compile fine when the simulation has not locked your project? If you create & runyour standalone RT project (rather than running in simulation mode), can you then compile just fine?

sweetol Posts: 18 Rating: (0)	thanks for your interest.. i try to select project name, but i can't compile or simulate or start the RT. neither for the client: when i try to simulate the client (with all the simulations in off and nothing running), TIA reports an error window saying "impossible to compile the selected object" and in the top of this windows there is the code 0125:000006. But if i try to compile the client it seems to compile right. In any case i don't find any .mcx with the client's name, only the server's .mcx. i tried to upload the project..
