How to setup MODBUS ASCII..?

khairul Posts: 57 Rating: (0)	Hi everyone, i would like to ask about the MODBUS ASCII. Is that possible to use it with s7-1200? if it's possible, then how can i setup it..? I'm using CPU 1214C DC/DC/DC and CM1241 (RS485) only. thank you.

Are you sure you want the ASCII version and not the RTU version? The ASCII version is normally reserved for transmission over mediums that are subject to potentially large transmission delays (e.g. modems). This is beacuse, the ASCII varient has no packet timing restraints (strict timing). If you most definitely need the ASCII version then there is a possible solution. You could use an external modbus RTU to modbus ASCII convertor. There are quite a few commercially available - google is your friend here.
