I wanna know how can I synchronize PLC with a PC as server and few PC as Clients to ideal time(not UTC)?

Is it possible to synchronize them without any GPS or SICLOCK or... ?

First of all we need to know which Type of PLCs you useand is there a HMI System runing on the PCs?

Then we can look if its possible to do a time synch...

But you should be sure that a clear time synchroniasation in an IT Network always will work with UTC Time. all common time Synchronisation protocols work with UTC like NTP.

I have 3 pc(OS server,OS client,Engineering station) and 1 s7-400.I tried to sync the time bye NTP.

I set : Os server As server, Os client As client-sever(Client for Os server and server for plc),then I add their IP to ntp mod in PN-IO.It works correctly!

Then I set Engineering station as client-server (client for Os server and server for plc) too.then i add the IP again and it works correctly!!!

But when I turned off the OS Server and changed the time of Os server ; PLC time get confused(1 min it take the time from OS and one from Ebgineering station),also ES time dont change !!!

what should i do??

Hi,

I suggest you set one of the Windows computers to be NTP server as shown in this FAQ:

Then the other Windows computers can use this to get time from.

Also the plc can get time from the NTP server as shown in this documentation:

I decided to use Time Synchronization in Wincc.

I did all the settings,but some alarms occured and Master changed to slave mode!!

Alarm: Time jump- Server switched to permenant slave mode....

Hi,

This message appears when the time on the station is changed more than 5 seconds.

Then this station will no longer work as a time master and never will even after restart.

See SIMATIC Process Control System PCS 7 Time Synchronization (V9.0) on page 82 on the error and how to reactivate it as master.

I did it and there is no Time jump error anymore,BUT PLC time was not synchronized with OS Server!

what should i do??
