In Runtime, the user acknowledges an alarm in one of the following ways, depending on the configuration:

• Using the acknowledgment button <ACK> on the HMI device
• Using the button in the alarm view
• Using configured function keys or buttons in screens

To configure a button for acknowledging an alarm, proceed as follows:

1. Select the button in the "Screens" editor.
2. Under "Properties > Events" in the Inspector window, assign the "AlarmViewAcknowledgeAlarm" system function to the "Click" event.
3. Select the alarm view as parameter.

 In the alarm view component, you only have one integrated alarm acknowledgement button.

You can make your own button for it, but then you need to make the alarm acknowledgement logic your self in the PLC.

 I have not tried it, but as far as you can select more than one alarm, it coul de possible.

It is not clear to me it you want to have a button on the HMI to acknowledge or you wish to have a physical button  (acknowledge from the PLC). 

Assuming you wish to have a button on the HMI. Use the suggestion made by Hati and detailed by Prof. Frink as quoted below. This is the first step.

Next step is to ensure that all the alarms are from the same alarm group. When one alarm of a group is acknowledged, all are acknowledged.

The problem is that the operator needs to select at least one alarm message before the button is used.

The next method is to have the PLC do acknowledgement. The trouble there is the format you need to use in the declaration of the acknowledge bits. The next issue is that all individual alarms should be acknowledged.

In my own designs I have the PLC keep the alarms active that needs to stay active. All alarms are of no acknowledgement type. The positive is that I have full control over which ones are kept alive and how those are acknowledged, The negative is that it is not possible to show a message as "out-going" but "not-yet-acknowledged".

In my designs I have too many alarms that has an expire date. After a while it does not matter that the user is not attending to the alarms.

It is possible to have two sets of alarms. One set to retain the record and the other to easily acknowledge all.

For PLC acknowledge operator can press reset button from anywhere to do it.

See attached what I´ve done, maybe it helps you. IMPORTANT: click on the columns on alarms page to display ALL COLUMNS...

My idea was to have a button to ACK all errors together, it seems it´s working...perhaps one of the forum experts could also tell me if this idea is OK or not...I didn´t understand very well the difference between HMI ACK and PLC ACK...

Hello.

Attached is an example for Step7 Basic V14 and WinCC Basic V14 that can be simulated. This one is worth BitCoin. Not only does it demonstrate the alarm acknowledgement but it also contains helpful notes in OB1 and the HMI pages.

Some secrets are also made clear by x3 examples.
