how to use DCTL.OCX to get data from 840d?

hi,all

i want to get data from 840d by my personal computer through ethernet with Visual basic 6.0. ican accessed the data by NCDDE until now. but it's too slow. and from the HMI-ADVANCED 's documents i know that i can use DCTL.OCX to solve this problem. and by using DCTL , the communication will be safer and more quick. i got the example from the example.

Sub Form_Load()
Dctl1.LinkItem = "/Channel/Parameter/R[1]" 'the variable name
Dctl1.DataToCaption = True 'that’s default, can be omitted
Dctl1.LinkCmd = 11 ' commands the reading
' here Dctl1.Caption holds the value of the DDE variable
End Sub

now the question comes. how does the computer know to connect 840d. Should i add the linktopic of the Dctl1? such as Dctl1.LinkTopic = "\\840d computer name\NDDE$|MYDDE$" ?
