How to wire button to PLC to turn on a LED

Alanstef Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	Hello I am new to PLC wiring and programing and I have a problem, I don't know how to wire a button so that it turn on a led. I connect the button to the 24v and the input X1. When I press it the internal output Y1 should turn on but it just turns on for a brief moment. Am I doing it correctly? and how should a LED be wired to the output? Thanks

Hit_Formula Experienced Member Joined: 2/20/2010 Last visit: 7/9/2024 Posts: 104 Rating: (7)	for connecting button with PLC input you shold know input type of your module, is 24vdc or contact free. if it 24vdc then you have to connect 24vdc to one leg of button and another leg you have to connect with Digital input module channel, for output connection you should known type of output. once this arrangement is done then you shold have do proper programming like latching logic or set/reset logic to make contioues on your output.

As for wiring to module ,there are so many necessary details which are requiredlike module no,type of button, its terminals description, type of wiring like sink/source type. P_PANDE Posts: 72 Rating: (6)	From ur question I think u are new to PLC. So the basic fundamental to connect any contacts to DI is to close the circuit to get the DI on. Means if you are using modules with common M then u have to give 24 v Dc to all DI to close the circuit to get the DI on. Similarly u have ti check the modules with common 24 v dc also. And same is applicable for 110 V AC OR 220 V AC modules. I hope now it is clear to u.

S7-300 Module Data (Digital Module - Page 49 ~ 246) S7-400 Module Data (Digital Module - Page 93 ~ 178) Also, you can write this program for START and STOP by one push button: Push Button connect to I0.0 LED or relay connect to Q0.0 Network1: A I 0.0 A M 0.1 S M 0.0 A I 0.0 AN M 0.1 R M 0.0 A M 0.0 = Q 0.0 Network2: AN I 0.0 AN M 0.0 S M 0.1 AN I 0.0 A M 0.0 R M 0.1 Also, you can try this code A I 0.0 FPm0.0 X Q 0.0 = Q 0.0 Hope this helps, MRG

Read this thread: how to program flip-flop with one push button? how to use only one push button to on/off the output Hope this helps.
