Dear All Expert,

I try to write a script for WinCC TIA Portal and used below function.. Then I have complied. it an error..

Could someone please help me check for this code is correct..? 

If HmiRuntime.SmartTags("Tags1") > HmiRuntime.SmartTags("Tags2")

Tags1 = Process Value (Data Type: Real)

Tags2 = Setpoint (Data Type: Real)

Tags3 = Lamp Status (Data Type: Bool)

When you want to access the value of a tag via VBS you can simply use SmartTags("Tagname"). 

When you use HMIRuntime.SmartTags("Tagname") you need to add a .Value (HMIRuntime.SmartTag("Tagname").Value) that the value of the tag is used.

Therefore, try the script like that:

If SmartTags("Tags1") > SmartTags("Tags2")

Normally it should work like that :)

there are two more points you should pay attention to:

1) The syntax if if-then-end if:
The "Then" should stay in the same line as the "If", the statement should be in the next line below.

2) Don't use 1 and 0 for tags with the datatype Bool. Use True and False, as True could be 1/-1 per definition. This can create problems if you use it in a condition.

So your script should look like:

If SmartTags("Tags1") > SmartTags("Tags2") Then
SmartTags("Tags3")= True
End If

In the error message it is stated, that the "Then" of the if-then-else request is expected in line 9 colum 38 which is directly after the if-request.

Just do this small change below and check again:

If HmiRuntime.SmartTags("Tags1") > HmiRuntime.SmartTags("Tags2") Then

HmiRuntime.SmartTags("Tags3")= 1

If i write your code for another way.. i should write a code as below.? Is it possible to run a code without error.? Coz we use HmiRuntime.Smartags...

I'm not sure if I understand your last question.
- Is there an error in your last code in if yes, which one?

I think

If SmartTags("Tags1") > SmartTags("Tags2") Then
SmartTags("Tags3") = True
End If

 looks alright.

I'm not sure about these two:

HmiRuntime.SmartTags("Tags1").Value

HmiRuntime.SmartTags("Tags1")

I guess at least one of should work, too. Can't test it atm. Might depend on the runtime.
But it's so bulky.

Are you scripting for a Comfort/Advanced or Professional Runtime?

According to the manual ".Value" is defined for VBS in WinCC Professional, but WinCC Comfort/Advanced is not mentioned:

If you are in the VBS editor, click ONCE on a tag table in your project tree view on the left. Now you can see all your tags in the detail window in the lower left corner.
Drag&Drop the tag you need from the detail window to the part of the VBS code where you need it and you have the name/syntax correct automatically.

If you want to use a system function in the script, add it on the right side in the "Function list" window, add the parameters, click on the space in the code where you need it and then click on "Apply". It's added in the correct syntax, too.
