I want to communicate RS 485 Absolute Encoder with CPU 1214C and the communication board is CB 1241.I have a querry that how to communicate the RS485 encoder with PLC and which programing block are essential for read and write address.

you can use instructions from communication processor library - SEND_PTP and RCV_PTP. For propper functionality I recommend create 2 DB blocks, one for send and one for receive data. Internal structure can be array of bytes, enough to send/receive data (max. receive data+little add some bytes). Look to each instruction in TIA help, from this you can start. Here on forum can be some topics from users in history that can be good examples for you. From manual is all clear I think. There are 2 modes - active and passive mod. select this mode probably due your needs or if you want use more than one encoder on bus.
