i can''t change the default IP adress for CPU

Robster Gold Member Joined: 5/28/2008 Last visit: 10/23/2024 Posts: 1343 Rating: (141)	Ok, I tried it out and find follow text in online manual: You can assign an IP address and IP parameters to a module for the first time. That means, you can only assign IP address by Online & Diagnostic, if CPU has no IP address. I tried this and it works. After CPU has an IP, you get the message "IP could not be assigned". I also tried "Reset IP address" and it works too after CPU switched to STOP. So I think, if your CPU gets the IP address from downloading hardware, you only can change them by downloading hardware with new IP. But my question to you is, why you want to change IP address and why you want to reset?

Dilli Posts: 122 Rating: (1)	Robster But my question to you is, why you want to change IP address and why you want to reset? the answer is: I want to include controller in our office network, IP adress is already busy by ADSL router through we are conected to internet,and now i have to switch everytime - if want to work with controller: PC<->S71200 else PC<->Office network. My question is open - why couldn't reset the IP.

Robster Gold Member Joined: 5/28/2008 Last visit: 10/23/2024 Posts: 1343 Rating: (141)	I'm the opinon that you can connect S7-1200 directly to router. In manual on page 77 and 212 it is described. Then it should be possible to be connectet with internet and can connect to S7-1200. IP address must match in first three octets with IP that router place with. Then you don't need to change IP address on S7-1200 anytime. The error with reset I can't simulate. Sorry. In this case I can't help you further on.
