i can't find OPCServer.WinCC

Hero_ac Bronze Member Joined: 6/20/2008 Last visit: 2/19/2024 Posts: 73 Rating: (1)	Hi everyone, I use WinCC V6.2 SP2 and want to use OPCServer.WinCC to collect information(tags) from WinCC.When i add OPC.chn, create connectionand I run my project then use OPC Item Manager but i can't find OPCServer.WinCC. Can everyone help me to solve this problem? Thanks and best regards

Hero_ac Bronze Member Joined: 6/20/2008 Last visit: 2/19/2024 Posts: 73 Rating: (1)	- self WinCC has OPC function even though we needn't install Simatic.Net driver - With WinCC V6.0 the problem does not appear(I have used OPC with WinCC V6.0 and it is ok) - I want to use OPCServer.WinCC(in WinCC Server Project) to get the information of Client(via WinCC Client Project) but with the new version(V6.2) I can not find OPCServer.WinCC in OPC Item Manager.

When i am trying to access client machine through OPCitem manager of Server i cannot see OPCServer.Wincc. But in WinCC V6.0 it was ok.After migrating to WinCC V6.2 only this problem started. Is it a bug in 6.2?

Normally OPC.chn is used in WinCC to connect to other OPC servers (eg. SimaticNET OPC server, Modbus OPC server.) I do not understand why you are trying to connect to the OPC server of WinCC, when all it gives is the data that is alreadyavailable in WinCC without using any comm channel. OPC server of WinCC is used for external applications to get data from WinCC. May be you can explain little bit more what you are trying to do here. Are you trying to get the data from another WinCC server?

My requirement is to access the Client scada tags from Server. From server i have to access the client scada's tagsthrough OPC server.Since all SCADA's are in one network, in OPC itemmanager i can see all the systems. But i cannot see OPCServer.WinCC of client SCADA's. OPCServer.WinCC for local system(Server) is ok.

Are you trying to get the data from another WinCC server? - I have 2 WinCC Server projects and some WinCC Client projects. In WinCC Server project i want to collect the information about available driver, main memory, CPU usage in the computer where has WinCC client project and then save them to database. I also use OPCServer.WinCC to get some tags in other WinCC Server project for synchronizing data when one of them break down. - In WinCC V6.0 it is ok, but in WinCC V6.2(new project is created in version 6.2) i can not find OPCServer.WinCC when use OPC Item manager.

SpKV Posts: 139 Rating: (1)	JMJ: May be you can explain little bit more what you are trying to do here. Are you trying to get the data from another WinCC server? One more example. If You want to connect PLCSIM on different computers, you may need OPC connection between 2 WinCC. For more details see here: /tf/WW/en/Posts/22779
