I'm missing something in WinCC

Filo Posts: 54 Rating: (2)	I've never done this in WinCC so I'll need a little help to start. I have many typicall drives, and my task is to make one window to wich I should pass the neccessery parameter when calling it and use it for controling all the drives. I'm a bit of confused. Is this technicue called faceplates. I didn't find any usefull documentation about it for WinCC

Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	Hi, There are many ways to do this... you can use text-type internal tags in the objects boxes, and just pass the object's name as a parameter upon opening the box. Upon opening the box the external tags' names would be composed. The box would then work with the object's tags... Best regards, Danielle

Ganesan Posts: 48 Rating: (1)	Hi, Tthis can be done very well using indirect tags, by defining a text reference tag and passing the values to it. Alternatively, you can also use pointers in C scripts, to do the same. Take the tag on to a variable in C, and declare a pointer which points to the memory address of the variable. You can pass on as many parameters as you want on to your faceplate, and do watever operation you want to perform. Regards, Ganesan

Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	Hi, You don't need to create the picture windows. If you're gonna open one drive's window at a time, you can have 1 picture window, and just make it's name dynamic. If you're using web Navigator make sure you don't simply use a text tag to store the picture name parameter, since it'll mess up your navigation. Best regards, Danielle

Filo Posts: 54 Rating: (2)	Thanks Danielle and Nemo for the support. But let me clearify a little more my idea. Firstly no I'm not using Web Navigator. The Idea is if it is possible in runtime via a C script to create as many picture windows as needed, so if the operator wants to open simultaniously faceplates for 10 drives to be able to do it. @Nemo I've checked the documents that you gave me. I'm not quite sure that they will help with this task but I'll sun some tests to learn more about this functions.

Opening several screens would replace the multiple picture windows... but how would it work, considering the user wants a single parameterized .pdl to be showing several drives simultaneously?
