IE & TCP/IP communication

G2481 Posts: 31 Rating: (0)	Hi all, I am little bitcomfused between Industrial ethernet & TCP/IP communication. In my project all siemens devices are communicating each other with industrial ethernet (using mac address) I have to collect some data from RS view scada which is on TCP/IP. So my question is that, "Is it possible that to collect these data through same ethernet CP-443 just adding mac address as well as IP address or I need to configure new TCP/IP network with new CP?" Normally you would be using OPC to talk to the RSView system. In case you are communicating with the RSView without OPC , you have touse another connection to connect to the Scada system. If you are using a CP1613 card it would be better to connect it using mac address. Otherwise you may have to configure with IP address only.

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (411)	Hello, please let me try to explain a bit. First of all Industrial Ethernet is not a Protocol, it is the physical layer of the network youuse. Your communication runs on Protocols, as you mention that you use only MAC Addresses you can only use the ISO Transport protocol. TCP/IP is another Protocol that also runs on Ethernet or Industrial Ethernet physical layer. The CP’s you use, you mentioned the CP 443-1, support TCP/IP as soon as you have the Version with the order # 6GK7443-1EX02-0XE0 and later. So you should not have any problem. The only thing you may have to care about is the situation if you haveredundancy with H Systemsin yourNetwork, this could lead to some problems. If you have no HSystem, just add the Address parameter IPAddressto your HW Config and the TCP Connection... or S7-Connection depending what your SCADA uses. Best regards J_Bell
