IFix SCADA <-> Kepware -> S7400H CPU

Maha Posts: 118 Rating: (4)	Hi All, IFix SCADA <-> Kepware -> S7400H CPU This is the system, I am using for my project. Ifix as Scada, Kepware as OPC and S7400H PLC with CP443 ( 2 numbers, each in one CPU Rack). Now I am not able to achieve the redundancy with SCADA. Siemens redundancy concept is, Rack0 will hold the master status even CP443 in that rack got failed. So scada has to look in to Rack0 CPU through another CP443 available in Rack1. Kepware teachnical support confirmed us that, they dont have any solution for this siemens Master/Slave concept with CP443. From siemens forum, i found that, we cant achieve the redundancy without Redconnect and CP1613/CP1623. am i correct? If yes, please inform what are the hardware and software i need to purchase to make this system, IFix SCADA <-> Kepware -> S7400H CPU, work in redundancy. If No, Please inform any other easy way(without purchase new materials) to achieve this, Thanks.

Hello, Yes, you are right in case of build S7-fault tolerant connection. You need two CP1613 and S7-redconnect package. Then in case 'redconnect' automatically will switch on to the stanby network card. The other thing without using two CP and that package, maybe is possible to create two connections corresponding to each CP there and to switch them on by using a script in IFix. In this way you will reach somehow software redundancy connection... Best regards, Hristo Mihalev

Maha Posts: 118 Rating: (4)	Hi Thanks for the details. Regarding the second option (without CP1613), I have Kepware between the PLC and IFix. Now I am not able to read the data at kepware while one CP443 on rack0 is down. Do you have any sample program/code available? please explain little bit more clear about that 2 connections.

umencho Diamond Expert Joined: 3/21/2006 Last visit: 3/19/2025 Posts: 10239 Rating: (1183)	In order to configure a connection between IFix and S7 PLC one example - Connecting IFIX SCADA to Siemens S7 using TCP/IP So, in your case you will have two connection (to each CP). Basically they will be the same, the only differences will be IP addresses. In IFix you can make a watchdog in order to trace each connection. And in case of fault (connection 1), IFix to start reading from connection 2 and vice verse. I am sorry don't know if this scenario is possible for sure in IFix and specially how to realize it under IFix... Best regards, Hristo Mihalev
