IM 151/8 PN/DP problem during module removal

Nil96 Posts: 325 Rating: (13)	Hi, Well I am facing kind of problem with IM151/8 PN/DP CPU whenever more than one I/O module is removed. If we remove single module from the system, then the CPU remians in RUN and indicates System fault, but when more than one module is removed then the CPU goes into STOP mode. The only way it goes into RUN is to again insert all modules and toggle the RUN/STOP switch on the CPU. By the by all related OBs are residing in the program.. Doesnt this CPU call OB86 recursively during module removals / insertions ?? Can any one help me with this plz..... Regards Nil

Rated X Posts: 1547 Rating: (129)	Hello Nil, have you already checked the HW diagnostics which OB is called? It is possible, that OB 83 is requested which catches insert/remove actions. Maybe you try this. Regards, Rated X

Nil96 Posts: 325 Rating: (13)	Hi Umencho & RatedX, Actually it was typographical mistake... Infact its OB83 which is called for.. The problem is that, if we remove 1 module then the CPU remains in RUN mode with System Fault indication. But if more than 1 module are removed then the CPU goes to STOP mode.. My only question is why the CPU can't handle more than one module removal ??? Why OB83 isn't called continuously.. Regards Nil

But according to OB83 description: The CPU operating system calls OB 83 in following situations: • after insertion / removal of a configured module Isn't be a single module? In your case an insert/remove interrupt OB will call only for central IO devices. When you remove more then one module and CPU went in STOP what is written in diagnostic buffer? Bhushan02 Posts: 7 Rating: (2)	Hello.. The ET 200S with IM 151-8 PN/DP CPU supports the removal and insertion of in each case one module of the ET 200S I/O system during operation. When you remove a module from the system during operation, OB 83 is called and a corresponding diagnostics buffer entry is generated. but the time you remove more than one module the CPU will go in stop. Hi Bhushan02, Well, u mean to say that if more than 1 modules are removed then the CPU will go to stop mode... Does this happen even with 300 / 400 CPUs communicating to ET200S modules ??? In case of IM158 PN/DP CPU, is there any workaround procedure to halt the CPU going to STOP during more than 1 module removal ?? Regards Nil

According to that old FAQ there isn't call specific OB - CPU goes directly to STOP. Why does my SIMATIC S7-300 CPU go into STOP with error 16#4548 "Stop by I/O administration"? There doesn't matter if this is 200S CPu or S7-300 in case of Event ID: 4548. Best regards, Hristo Mihalev

Bhushan02 Posts: 7 Rating: (2)	yes, if more than one module is removed the CPU will stop. with 300/400 system if two modules are removed simultaneously fromthe ET200s stationthe stationwill go in system fault but 300/400 will be in RUN only. if you want to remove/Insert more than one module you have to do it one by one. If 2nd module has to be unplugged, then 1st module already removed has to be inserted b4 unplugging 2nd module. The attachment gives an breif idea ........
