IM 308B occasional error

dendhondt Bronze Member Joined: 8/5/2009 Last visit: 7/4/2022 Posts: 156 Rating: (7)	We have an installation with an IM308B in an 135U Rack(cpu928) The IM308B is for 2 OP15 displays occasionaly the IM308B card gives an error And the communication with the operator panels is lost. the problem is solved easily by changing the module off/on But why is the module making this error? Leds RN : Off ST : Fast flashing BF : Fast flashing IF : Fast flashing I also can't find a manual of this module? It is possible that we have the software COMET200 on some old PG but i didnt find it yet. so i can't look in the configuration if there is something wrong. What is the reason of this error?

dendhondt Bronze Member Joined: 8/5/2009 Last visit: 7/4/2022 Posts: 156 Rating: (7)	If the machine is started the OP15 panel are powerd up, the cpu rack is powerd even if the machine is started The problem still occurs, i checked all connection, but i don't see anything I allready replaced the profibus connector on the masteer module, but i stille get the error Now i exchanged the master card with another one wict the same version number (6) Now if i plug the profibus connector of the master module out and back in again, the modules gets the same error, the previous module didn't do this??? I'll will wait a wile to see how this module works I found in an internet document on the siemens site, there where problems with the 308Bmaster module Reason for the change: Revision level 3 of the IM 308B module eliminates previously existing problems. Revision level 3 of the IM 308B and of COM ET 200 also provides a number of new functions. The following problems have been solved: IM 308B, revision level 1 and 2, with CPU 928B: If the CPU 928B is switched from RUN to STOP, the IM 308B can enter STOP mode. The STOP, IF and BF LEDs on the IM 308B will flash. To resume data exchange, the switch on the IM 308B or the power switch of the PLC have to be switched off and on. The problem occurs in conjunction with CPU 928B only. Link to internet document the only difference is that i use a version 6 card, and that the problem not occurs but switching the CPU from run to stop.
