Dear dchartier , Thank you for reply. My Big boss need this information. As per my boss, There will be 5 IM153 stations and one S5 135U PLC CPU 928B with one CP524(support RK512, 3964R, ASCII). These all IM153 DI/DO will be communicating with S5 PLC and controlled from S5 PLC. thanks |

Hello Bengineer; If you are not able to get a Profibus-DP master for the S5 CPU, then the best recommendationI have is to use a small S7 CPU as a serialgateway to the S5, acting as a master to the ET 200M stations (IM 153-x interfaces). Hopefully others will chime in with other, simpler suggestions. Performance will not be as good as if you used an integrated Profibus master in the S5 backplane, as you will have to program the P ofibus data in the S7 CPU to DBs that will be used for the serial exchanges, and the S5 will have to handle the serial data in the program so you can use them as input/output data. Not counting the little matter of the 9600 baud connection etween the 2 CPUs. The smallest S7-300 CPU that can act as a Profibus-DP master is a S7-313C-2DP (order number 6ES7 313-6CE00-0AB0) You will need to add a serial CP on the S7 backplane, either a CP 340 (supports 3964R) or a CP341 (supports both 3964R andRK512).You will have to decide which protocol to use, RK512 is designed as a more robust layer above 3964R, but mightbe slower. The Product Support link (top of this page) will allow you to Search for entries on both protocols. For example, hereare a series of FAQs that might help you in setting up 3964R/RK512 connections between a S7 and S5 serialCPs: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/24415918 I have attached a (very) quick sketch showing the proposed configuration.Sorry for the lack of detailed design. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier. |
