Cristi01 Posts: 12 Rating: (0)	Hello, Sorry if this is the wrong section into which I posted. I have purchased Image Creator 2.1 (6ES7648 - 6BA02 - 1YX0) to create backups for Panel PC477B. On the box it says: Type of licence: single Type of use: user Licence on media (i have no media other than the cd with the software) Questions: 1. Do I have to get the licence? From where? 2. What does it mean Type of licence: single, and type of use: user? 3. I am allowed to install this software on a single PC? 4. Can I make multiple backups for several machines? 5. What are my limitations? Thank you in advance and have a nice day !

What are my limitations? Although I don't know in detail, I guess the type of license is the CoL. You have a Certificate of License with it which is the "License". There is no additional "license key" as it is with STEP7 i.e. So question 1 and 2 are answered Question 3: Could you install it? I never tried to, but it is a bootable disc which has a Ghost software implemented so you can create an Image after booting from CD. USB support is available as well as network support. Question 4: Yes Question 5: You need an external CD/DVD drive to start from CD and maybe an external usb disc to store an image onto it. Or you use a network or anything like that. That's the way I use this software in general. Hope I could help you answering your questions. If anybody knows better: I don't mind

Or I have to purchase a licence for Image Creator for every backup that I want to make? Has anyone successfully created a back-up with Image Creator 2.1 OR 3.0 for a Simatic Panel PC 477B? I have a panel PC477B with a 2GB Siemens CF card. I created an image of this card using my laptop and a card reader, and tried to write that image to another 2GB card (not Siemens) and not succeeded. There are many options available when creating the image and when writing it....

Anyway, the best person to ask would be your local Siemens sales representative. At least he should know!

Hello,

If we assume Siemens has the same "understandings" like

A single license is a type of copyright that restricts the use of the program to one computer, or one server. this means that the program cannot be installed for free on different computers.

or

Single License. Short Description
You are granted a non-exclusive and non-transferable license to install and use the Software under the following conditions:

The Licensee may install and use the Software on only one operating system.
The Software may be installed and used only by the person it is registered to. This License is generated for a user's personal name.
This License cannot be shared or used concurrently by different individuals or on different systems.
Each individual must purchase a separate license for the Software to use it.

you could find answers alone.
TomDeWou is right. You should contact with Siemens office in your place.

Piotr.M Platinum Member Joined: 6/24/2013 Last visit: 10/7/2024 Posts: 1628 Rating: (421)	for standard panel pc running windows you can use http://www.backup-utility.com/download.html click local download to gewt it 1. it is free of charge for both home and business use!!! 2. it can create image of the whole system and compress it 3. creates the bootable stick [16gb stick should be enough to store bootable part and panel pc backup as well - backup is compressed] 4. it can mount image as a virtual drive so one can get some data from it instead of restoring whole hard drive this may help and is FREE Tested/working on Amplicon panel PC running SCADA
