implementation of the 'System Redundancy' functions in the 6ES7151-8AB0x-0AB0 ET200S, IM151-8 PN/DP CPUs

Binuxxx Posts: 11 Rating: (0)	Dear Colleagues, Should Anybody have any information concerning the implementation of the 'System Redundancy' functions in the 6ES7151-8AB0x-0AB0 ET200S, IM151-8 PN/DP CPUs? As I have been recognized, this product capable to work in the redundant environment and supports MRP and HSR protocols. We are already using it as a part of the S7 300 and Profinet based redundant system, but If we want to move to the PROFINET with our PCS7 system too, then we don't want to change from ET200S to ET200M because the high engineering costs (we already have a taylor made application based on ET200S). What is the reason, that the so called 'System Redundancy' functionality not yet implemeted in the firmware of these CPUs? I have mentioned that the 'System Redundancy' means that the coupler supports master-stanby network protocol on the redundant ring. What happened? If Anybody has just an estimated information concerning the ET200S CPUs in the redundant environment, please send it me! Thanks in advance: J.

Regards, J. No. You can use6ES7153-4BA00-0XB0. Only one module will support redundnacy from two CPUs. Cost wise, it is good. specially if you have a lot of racks. But in the avilability point of view, it is too bad. As in case of a fault in this module, the whole rack will be off. Hope this helps.

Aret Posts: 2348 Rating: (265)	Dear Binuxxx, you asked too many questions, but i'll try to be short ET200S CPU is best thing Siemens did in past few years IMO (please don't throw rocks at me). As of FW 3.2 they are able to be I-Slave and Shared Device. This almost brings us to redundancy concept. BUT the thing is H-systems don't support PROFINET generally So we have to wait a bit for H-system with full PROFINET capability - FW 6.0 of S7-400 is step towards this solution. In a mean while i can say such system IS working - H-system, connected to 2xCPU315PN via profibus and a bunch of ET200SPN CPU connected to those 315. S7-315 is serving as a gateway from H-system to ET200S. Of course additional programming and additional costs of this solution can be sufficient, but the goal is communication time is in range PB/PN Master-Slave communications. Hope i could give you some hint

Hello, H-CPUs with Profinet capabilities have been already released one month ago. Delivery Release for S7-400H V6 Including PROFINET Support Here's bellow the new CPUs: CPU 412-5H PN/DP 6ES7412-5HK06-0AB0 CPU 414-5H PN/DP 6ES7414-5HM06-0AB0 CPU 416-5H PN/DP 6ES7416-5HS06-0AB0 CPU 417-5H PN/DP 6ES7417-5HT06-0AB0 And by using one of the above CPUs, then you can work with IM6ES7153-4BA00-0XB0instead of using two IM153-2BA02 (RED BUNDLE). please read my previous post here. In fact the above new CPUs are released from 5/4/2012. I am not sure if their prices is available now in CA01 or not. Hope thsi helps.

Aret Posts: 2348 Rating: (265)	Ayman, that's why i said Siemens moved a bit - these CPU can work redundantly ONLY with 153-4BA you mentioned. No other Siemens devices can work with it So in our case 151-8 wont work with H-system directly.

But my customers want to change the whole system to Profinet and they don't want to change to ET200M, which is the only supported redundant IO solution for Profinet H-system this time... We have already developed the own redundant Profinet (in application level - so software redundant) system with two 317 PN/DP CPUs (as Main) and IM151-8 slave CPUs. It works based on I-Device and Shared Device configuration, and works well. Since the tests were successful, my customers decided to change the higher level supervisory system, which is PCS7 based, to the Profinet also. So, there are a lot of unwanted limitations concerning the usage of the very useful IM151-8 CPUs. We also tried to use a redundant S7 communication (over PN) between H-system and slave CPUs, but there isn't supported yet in the fw of the IM151-8. So no way to configure without the additional equipments these slaves as a part of the redundant system. Of course one sided config is not accepted. So, if anybody have any information about that these IM151-8 CPUs will support at least S7 communication fault-tolerant, than send it me, please! Thanks in advance: János

Aret Posts: 2348 Rating: (265)	Why can't you use your previous solution (by the way we did the same) - 317+IM151-8 to make PN communications. Then you ADD s7-400 H connect it to 317 by means of PB master-slave.
