In starting if the reistor is closed bus fault is coming

ram123., Posts: 56 Rating: (2)	We have profibus network system constisting of around 9 local control desk with remote I/Os , around 20 drives , S7 400 PLC and we are using a CP card for connecting the profibus network .The total network consists of around 40 nodes including profibus encoders. We are not terminating the resistor at the starting of the node only at the end of the node we are terminating the resistors. In the starting if the reistor is closed bus fault is coming . This system is commissioned around one year back. After seeing this we tried to terminte at the start point error came . please explain us why this is happening

Profibus has to be terminated at start and at end. If during startup (or later) a node is added before termination resistor (or after, if end), then it sometimes works (depends on cable lenght mainly). This could have happened to your bus also. If you then discover later that there is no termination resistor on start and add one, there would be one termination too much. regards
