Incorrect Highest Node Address

Paul Wainwright Posts: 7 Rating: (0)	I have recently been unable to get online using a Siemens field PG via MPI. I have never had a problem like this before & none of the PLC's I am trying to connect to have changed since I last successfully got online. I get a 'Incorrect Highest Node Address' message when I try to go online. The Simatic NET diagnostic gives me a 'Error 0x0314 Wrong HSA Set' error. For some reason I can sometimes get online the first time the PG boots but after that all I get is the error message. Thanks Paul.

Late Platinum Expert Joined: 1/7/2006 Last visit: 12/23/2024 Posts: 2705 Rating: (320)	Dear Paul, It could be that the address for the MPI in the CPU is standing higher or lower then the address where you are working with. Wenn you go on the MPI port the PG would recognize that and give a warning, this because you wouldn't get the token wenn you are defenitily are out of range. It could also be that the address you using for the PG is already in use, normally it couldn't work then, the message is then most of the time another one.

Paul Wainwright Posts: 7 Rating: (0)	J_Bell, I have uploaded the settings image. I have been in touch with Siemens directly & have tried every suggestion they made. I even tried restoring a backup image of the PG. This allowed me to go online once & then after that I got the 'Incorrect Highest Node Address' error again?. I am connecting to the CPU MPI port via a piggy back connector for Profibus. I will try after the bank holiday to connect directly to the MPI port although Siemens say the Profibus settings should not effect the MPI settings. J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, well, I do not know what the issue is if you have the CP 5611, as I can see in your configuration. I would try to set the flag at "PG/PC is the only master on the bus" Usually this is the causeof problems, even so they usually show themselves a bit different, but try it please. If this does not solve ittry to use the CP 5611 (Auto) version and try to detect the Bus parameters if possible. Best regards J_Bell

Calm_down Posts: 324 Rating: (30)	Hi, if the flag does not help I have no idea. Maybe it is a version issue. If you have a CP 5611 A2 with a older Software this may be a reason. I would contact Customer Support asap. Don't worry stay calm.

Paul Wainwright Posts: 7 Rating: (0)	Found the problem. A damaged MPI cable!. Although the lead detected the network correctly it must use some of the other pins to get online. Thanks for the help/suggestions Paul.
