Indirect Addressing

John A. Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Good Afternoon, I am trying to do some data collection of some real numberswith an IM-151 Safety Processor, using TIA portial v11. My first try was the ATT (Add to Table) instruction, but this instruction will only move word data. I decided to try and use indirect addressing and write some code to move the data in an array. When I try to add my "pointer" tag inside the array tag, I receive an invalid tag address warning. Does anyone have some ideas that can help me with this. Thanks

Optimized blocks are not available for indirect addressing (---without doing some bad things in your program that would make it very hard to maintain ---) Change the DBs to not be optimized and you can then indirectly address within the DBs.

What are you looking for exactly? All I have is an array, an interger tag, and a move instruction. Let me know what you would like to see and I will try to post it.

Ok, first of all turn on standard block acces ( or turn off optimized ;) ),now if this is all you have and you wrote your code correctly it should work... you see were I'm going? If we can't take a look at your code or a snippet of it, then we can't know what's wrong with it.

What language are you programming in, I'd assume SCL?

Are you working with indices combioned with a array? If that's the case, check out:

Only bad thing is my version of Step 7 Professional does not have SCL. I've got a call into my vendor to figure out why. Once that is resolved I will try out this code. Thanks for the help. Step 7 (TIA Portal) supports whatever your PLC hardware and firmware supports (provided it is included in current hardware support). For example, if you have an original S7-1200 Firmware 1.x, you can update that firmware to 2.2 and get SCL support.
