Industrial Databridge Licensing

gseEH Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	I'm completely new to MSSQL and WinCC so bear with me. I need to log some tag data (around 100 tags) on ten machines on a central MSSQL server, every 30 seconds. If I'm understanding things correctly, I can do this with the Industrial Databridge option for WinCC. - Do I just need one license for Databridge that's installed on the central SQL server? - Do I install Databridge on the central server or each WinCC installation? - Which tag count do I use for licensing? The 100 tags I'm getting off each machine, or the 1000 tags I'm getting total? Thank you. Eric

Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	Hi Eric, You need a WinCC CAL (Client Access License) for each client which is accessing IndustrialDataBridge and doesn't have a basic WinCC license, or a WinCC option installed... basically all stations working with IndustrialDataBridge need a license. They can have the option itself installed on them (in this case they'd need an IndustrialDataBridge option license) or, if they have read/write access to DataBridge, but no WinCC software is installed on them, they need the CAL... gseEH Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Thank you for the information. I'm still unclear on a couple things. Can I install Industrial Databridge on the main SQL server and receive data from the WinCC clients? Or do I have to install Databridge on each WinCC client and transmit the data to the main SQL server? In the information given, it states that an OPC server can be used for input data and an SQL server can be used for the destination. Is that any vendor's OPC server?
