Initial Setup Of Server

henno2000 Posts: 177 Rating: (0)	Hi, For the initial setup of a server, I am looking at purchasing WinCC RC. From reading into OS requirements it appears that I have to use a 'server' edition of Windows along with a server edition of WinCC. Is WinCC Server the same as RC? If not, what are the differences? ateam Bronze Member Joined: 12/8/2006 Last visit: 11/27/2023 Posts: 170 Rating: (26)	hi, wincc server and WinCC RC are different things!!!! -------------------------------------------- WinCC Server -------------------------------------------- You need WinCC Server license, when you choose the wincc project type "Multi user project"!!! - "Multi user" does not means, that you can configure multiple users in wincc user administrator - it means, that further machines (wincc clients) are connected with the wincc server.The pictures of the wincc server are displayed on the winc-client. -------------------------------- WinCC RC 64K -------------------------------- - RC means Runtime Configuration You have the license to configure the project and run the Runtime - 64K means you can configure 641024 Tags in wincc tag managment. (there are various limitations, i.e. 128, 8000 ...64K ..) -------------------------------- WinCC RT 64K -------------------------------- - RT means Runtime - You have the license to use WinCC Runtime - You can configure wincc (working with wincc control center) in demo mode* only; ==> there is a limitation in time only, but all wincc editors work fine.
