Installation problem in Wincc6.2

Currently I have tried to install WinCC 6.2 for one of the PC, but whenever i tried to open a project i get the message "database context of the Project in invalid", to rectify i reinstalled the software but it didn't worked, then i have installed it in another PC of exactly same configuration but got the same results, I have also downloaded the security patch 3 for WinCC 6.2 for dual core processors, My PC configuration is : CPU: 1.6 Ghz dual core RAM: 1 GB DDR2 hardware: CP5611 Harddisk: 160GB (40 GB) primary 1 more thing I would like to add here in my PC there is no NIC card drivers installed is it could be a problem Kindly comment on this problem.

GregFritz Posts: 15 Rating: (0)	Personally, I think the entire issue is the upgrade from 6.0 to 6.2 I have had countless issues with 6.2 after upgrading (as well as other members). The only machine we have running properly on 6.2 in our software department is one that had absolutley nothing on it from the start. My recommendation is to completely remove ALL siemens software. Then get a registry cleaner (or do it manually) and ensure every last bit of simatic software is gone. Then re-install everything. Important note: Install Step 7 first, then WinCC6.2, then reboot. THEN install hot fixes. My machine is also a duo-core processor, maybe the issue is STILL the duo-core after two hot fixes for the processor, - our machine that works fine is a P4.

Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	Hi Greg and Amity, There is a patch released specifically for dual core users... you can download it here. There is another patch, patch 3, which can be downloaded here, and corrects bugs which happen with the "GetTag..." function. You should get both of them... Amity, to install WinCC you need to have a communication processor installed, and check the firewall, virus scanner and domain configurations... you should also check compatibility with other Siemens software which may be installed on that computer. Greg, you should check compatibility before upgrading. Remember that when you upgrade WinCC other software which may be installed on that computer may become incompatible with the new version... I've seen installations going wrong, where the only way to get it to work was, like you said, deleting all siemens software completely... but it should have worked after you've done a clean installation of v6.2... Danielle and Greg Well thanks for your response, but I have already installed the patch 3 and patch_1 in my PCs, a CP5611 installed and working and also I have done the fresh installation of wincc6.2 on both the PC right from the windowsXP sp2, so that should not be the problem, right now i do not remember the brand of the Compaq PC but i'll let you know soon. And also I have tried the both things installing wincc6.2 after and before the installation of step7 5.3. Next day I have installed the WinCC 6.2 in one of my office PC after uninstalling wincc6.0 & sql server and it worked fine, earlier also many times i have installed this software in other PC from scratch and reinstallation also but this is the first time i am getting this kind of problem. And also this is the first time i am trying to install it over a dual core CPU. The installation procedure followed by me: 1. installing windowsXP sp2 and activation 2. installing Message queuing 3. installing hotfix from MS tools update 4. installing SQL server 2005 5. installing WinCC 6.2 6. wincc6.2 patch 3 and patch 1 Best regards Amity

Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	Hi Amity, You mentioned Step7 v5.3, right???? Well... Step7 v5.3 isn't compatible with WinCC v6.2 you need Step7 v5.4, with SP1 or SP2. Check the compatibility list here. Best regards, Danielle
