Installing Fail - SQL Server 2000 , WinCC 6.0 +SP4

I used to develop my project with Siemens Wincc 6.0sp2 but we buy new update Siemens wincc 6.0 with sp4 Firstly I try to install on the old Wincc, Its been installed correctly but did not work ... (open wincc but didnt open the projcts) Then I format my computer , would like to install only wincc sp4 Secondly , I try to install sql server 2000 + sp4 ; it gives an information : "installing software failed, Microsoft Sql server , please reboot your system" Finally ;) I try to install sql server 2000 + sp3 ; it gives an information : "setup finished with errors" I cant install . I think there is something that I miss. I miss myold friends I have read all the documents about installing wincc, I couldnt see my trouble (also chapter in wincc docs, Installing sql server 2000) Thank you very much from now on Best regards

Salma Gold Member Joined: 9/27/2005 Last visit: 11/27/2007 Posts: 1398 Rating: (151)	WinCC V6 SP4 can only run with SQL Server 2000 SP4. Do NOT use SQLServer 2000 SP3 ! Also, please ensure that the Windows Firewall is disabled - set in Control Panel \ Firewall Finally, ensure that you are not logged onto a domain when installing. If I were you I would uninstall SQL Server, reboot PC, delete all SQL Server registry entries, reboot PC, try installation again.

After making changes : Run Regedit , Deleting the things mention in faq After 3 try , IveDeleted everthing about SqL it doesnt work. I install latest msdatacomp *It can only reach to %52 then gives the same error I think there is still something missing, I will try at home again , and inform you what might be wrong Thank you very much again Even I could not I feel like I did Best regards

DesertDog Posts: 7 Rating: (0)	Has this been fixed? I'm having a similar problem. I'm setting up a brand new replacement Microbox 420. So Far I updated Windows XP to include SP2 etc. added the message queing and tried to install SQL 2000 SP4. It goes to 100% then aborts with a popup stating "Installing software failed Microsoft SQL Server 2000 + Service Pack 4 Please reboot your system. Setup will cancel now" If I try to reboot and continue setup won't get past the pasword setup screen. If I try to uninstall it fails. If I remove all the recomended registry entries it repeats the initial problem. After clearing the popup or sometimes during the install I get these popup messages: Generic box with no title "Another instance of setup is already running" In box titled "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library" I get : "Runtime Error Program......Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binnn\CCRunDTSPackage.exe abnormal program termination"

In the meantime, one quick question : the install asks you to specify a password for the SA account. Did you do this or leave it at the default ?
