I have no explanation why memory cards in Siemens is expensive. But also you can not compare it with other memory cards from other suppliers.

Basicilly thus because, other memory cards won't work with Siemens CPUs. So the comparison is invalid here.

In S71x00 you can start with 2GB / 4GB(now) memory card til 32 GB based on the ammount of data you would like to store on the memory card.

You can work with 4 GB or if you found that it will be expensive, you can buy a PC With HMI software and make the data logging on it. It may be an alternative solution.

That's a difficult question to answer specially there are no online data -til now- to tell.

But also it's a very important question in order to select the optimum size of MC based on the number of records you would like to store on the memory card.

I recommend to start a support request and please share us the info here.

What I find is that good flash mem can live up to 1 million writes. Sometimes it's mentioned that the bandwith of the card isn't enough to wear it out. That's how it should be...

If it's really true is left as an exercise..

What did you meant by "good" memory card? 

Where did you found that it will live up to million writes?

Also it depends on how many data is written each cycle and for how long.

Probably he refers to a "mean" calculation that some major houses like SanDisk,Kingston, ecc made to describe the life of their devices...

What surely will prolong the life of the SD is to write as much data as you can the less times you can per day.

So it is eventually better to store data in a (big) DB and flush to SD each 2 hours for example, rather than writing one bit every 0.5 seconds...

Unfortunately Siemens SDs has a turbostellar price because ....

Well , because they are Siemens formatted.

So basically you cannot clone them and you MUST buy them from Ziemenz. This is a pity since youc annot choose another (better  ? Favourite ?) SD which would cost more or less 100 times lesser.

I found more or less the same data for the 1200 cards. Nothing on the internal flash.
